I must admit that I sometimes I get a lil’ knot in my gut when I hear the terms ‘all-new’ and ‘re-designed’ attached to an already cool car. This time the flutter in my stomach would be from the sheer exhilaration after laying eyes on the 2013 Nissan Maxima.
So what’s going on with the new Nissan Maxima? How about everything! Talk about kicking up the sexy and sporty factor…Nissan has done it with so many cool additions.
The profile of the Maxima draws your eyes to the subtle lines that slope and cascade over, down and around the exterior of this looker. HID Xenon headlights greet on comers with a “you betta bow-down and respect my game look” on approach. Even the upgraded rear spoiler screams ‘eat my dust!’
In the past, sports cars and 4-doors didn’t actually run in the same circles. Now the new Maxima is staking its claim and shattering the myth that speed and power were primarily synonymous with coupes.
On the power front, the 3.5 Liter, 24-valve V6 engine pumping out 290 in horsepower coupled with 261 lb-ft of torque, and a Continuously Variable Transmission pushes the Maxima to the front of its segment’s pack. All of that power is easy to handle with a lot of control and stability via a Traction Control System, Vehicle Dynamic Control and Electronic Brake-force Distribution. The ride is also complimented by 18” Alloy wheels.
So Nissan has stepped up their power game with new Maxima, but what about the comfort factor? Uh yeah…they stepped that up too!
The comfort level is top-notch too with premium leather seats including a climate-controlled driver’s seat, rear bucket seats offering true 3-passenger seating, as well as the option to fold down the center armrest. The Maxima offers extreme comfort for the driver and all passengers.
(Side note: the cool air feature in the seats offers up that ‘York Peppermint Pattie’ sensation…if ya know what I mean…I’m just saying!)
It was really a treat to get the head nods and mental daps for rolling in such a cool car. Good job Nissan…Good job!
