Terms like muscle, power, speed and All-American come to mind when the Dodge Challenger SXT Plus rolls up on the scene. It’s hard not to get downright giddy when the Challenger is around. The Challenger SXT is a perfect marriage of old school charm and modern day swag. The roomy Challenger is probably one of the most comfortable muscle cars to hit the marketplace. While I loved the aesthetics, behind the wheel is was a little hard to see over the hood. Maybe my 4’11 frame was the problem, but I sure loved the ride. Listed as a 5-seater, the comfort sweet spot is rolling with 4 passengers. Sliding into the backseat was effortless with the flip of a latch on the Nappa Leather Sport Seats.
The optional Blacktop Package rocks out with features 20-inch x 8-inch Gloss Black Painted Aluminum Wheels, Gloss Black Grille, Gloss Black Instrument Cluster Trim Rings and Rear Black Spoiler. If the Blacktop Package wasn’t sexy enough, the Driver Convenience Group offers High Intensity Discharge Headlamps, Blind Spot, Rear Cross Path Detection and a Remote Start System. Hold-up! If that wasn’t enough, the Super Track Pack is the icing on the cake. Anti-lock 4-Wheel Disc Performance Brakes, Performance Steering and Suspension and Paddle Shifters round out this option.
The engine or should I say the heart of the Challenger is the great equalizer. The 3.6-Liter, V6 24 Valve VVT Engine with a TorqueFlite® 8 Speed Automatic Transmission is a thing of beauty! Powerful without getting away from me, I felt like I was tearing up the streets – of course, while obeying the speed limit. The ride was smooth and responsive with spot-on handling. Kicking out a respectable combined 23-MPG for a muscle car; the Challenger SXT Plus epitomizes the best of power, style and performance.
Stocked with safety features like Active Head Restraints, Sport Brakes with ABS, Rain Brake Support, All Speed Traction Control, Hill Start Assist, heated steering wheel, power-tilt/telescope steering column, Ready Alert Braking and a slew of airbags to boot and even Speed Control, the Challenger SXT has your best interest at heart.
When I mentioned that the Challenger was the perfect marriage of old school charm and modern day swag, I was referring to the all the bells and whistles Dodge unleashed on this sexy beast. The Sound Group II includes 9-Speakers with Subwoofer paired with a 506-Watt Amplifier. Uconnect® 8.4 includes GPS Navigation, HD Radio, Sirius/XM and Bluetooth connectivity.
