If Goldie Locks was looking to get that “just right” luxury crossover, she should run to the nearest Infiniti dealership. The JX35 is the perfect blend of style, space and performance. Nestled firmly in between the FX and QX models, the JX35 is the ideal crossover for the consumer who wants it all…in the right package.
From the first look the JX35 definitely has the DNA of the Infiniti family, but has a distinctive look all its own. The elongated body style of the JX35 has a commanding appearance. The chrome accents framing the windows, base of the doors, handles, lights and wheels offer up a sporty feel of the crossover. The integrated rear spoiler and the Infiniti badging in the front grill kicks up the snazzy factor of the JX35.
The ride of the JX35 was smooth with a lot of power. Via the JX25’s 3.5 Liter, V-6 engine, city and highway driving was an engaging experience providing the right amount of torque (248 lb-ft) and horsepower (265 hp to be exact) to navigate through most urban terrains. Offering a bevy enhanced drive choices, the JX35 comes with Normal, Sport, Snow and Eco modes. I did notice some ease at the tank in the Eco mode, (18/23 city and highway respectively), but my favorite was the Sport Mode…of obvious reasons.
The technology advances was not lost on the luxury features of the JX35. As featured in the commercials, the Backup Collision Intervention feature came in handy when a wayward shopping cart made a break for it at a local grocery market. The brakes did kick in and avoided a potential scrape. In the hellacious and unpredictable traffic conditions, the Brake Assist and Forward Collision Warning features are nerve soothing.
The interior of the JX35 was just as refined as its Infiniti siblings. The extra touches like the top stitching on the leather seats and armrests, whisper close compartments, illuminating instrument panels, glossy and exotic wood grains, brushed chrome accents, leather perforated heated and cooled seats, multi-function steering wheel and gear shifters create the ultimate in stylish driving. Even the third row of seating was fully functional, not to mention that everyone had his or her own dedicated cup holder.
The audio and entertainment features of the JX35 were the best. The Theater Package hook up the rear passengers with dual 7-inch monitors with the coolest and most comfortable wireless headphones. The Bose surround sound system, XM Radio, DVD entertainment system and iPod connectivity provided my own wall of sound on my many driving excursions. The sound quality was absolutely incredible. I felt as if Miles Davis was serenading me in the front seat with the JX35’s sound clarity.
