2016 Jeep® Cherokee Trailhawk

The Jeep Trailhawk 4X4 is beast! I could end this review with that, but I won’t. Over the past few years Jeep has really stepped their design and performance game up with Cherokee and the Trailhawk branding. From its previous design, the Cherokee Trailhawk has sleeker design from front to rear. The slotted chrome accented and a mesh grille hovers over machine brushed lower panels. Let’s not forget the optional matte decal on the hood. Its actually functional as it decreases hood glare. Trailhawk by nature harkens to a more rugged and robust driving experience, but everyday driving is sexy as well. Slanted wrap-around headlights, flowing lines that draw the eye from the front to rear fascias, roof rack, chrome window trim and body color door handles soften some of the rugged personality traits of its off-road DNA. This 5-seater crossover SUV is full of style and charm.

As if the powertrains Gods would have it any other way, the Jeep Trailhawk only comes in 4WD. With all the terrain options, the Selec-Terrain® System allows the driver to switch it us with the flick of the wrist. Opening it up on the straightaways, the Cherokee Trailhawk gets it in where it fits in. The 2.4-liter engine rolls out to a 22-Combined MPG on 18-inch wheels. The 9-Speed automatic transmission adds to its smooth ride. Outside of off-roading in past years with Jeep executives, this review was limited to the pothole-laden streets of Los Angeles. Now city excursions aren’t frowned upon, but the Cherokee really shines on more rugged terrains.

With all the adrenaline inducing activity that the Cherokee Trailhawk can muster up, safety has not been neglected or sacrificed. Adaptive Cruise Control, Adaptive Brake Assist, Quadra Trac/Drive II Systems, ParkView® Rear Back-Up Camera and Supplemental Air Bags (Side Curtain, Front and Rear, Front Seat Mounted, Driver Inflatable Knee-Bolster and Advanced Multistage Front) and skid plates keep the commitment to safety.
