The 2015 Nissan Rogue SL FWD is probably one of the most innovative and on-trend crossover SUVs to hit the market in recent years. Curvy in all the right places, the Rogue has a way of standing out amongst the rest. Its definitely is a ‘double-take’ kind of ride.
From the onset the Nissan Rogue SL is like that pretty girl at a party that’s tastefully dressed. She’s not loud and showing too much, but her beauty is what draws you in. Nestled in a small chrome framed grille, the Nissan badging blends in perfectly with the other stylized, but subtle nuances of the Rogue. The side fascias of the Rogue stand out like high cheekbones of a supermodel. The rear panels slightly extend like well-rounded hips. The Chrome accents around the mirrors and roof rack act as if they were perfectly placed pieces of jewelry. Shining bright like diamonds, LED Daytime Running Lights, Outside Mirrors with LED Turn Signals give that extra amount of pop. The LED Headlights w/Auto Levelizer scouts out the road ahead for safer driving conditions.
The ride of the Rogue SL was comfortable. This crossover handled well. The 2.5-liter DOHC I-4 engine paired with a Xtronic CVT® Transmission with Sport and Eco Modes won’t have you taking the checkered flag with 170 HP and 175 lb-ft of Torque, but you won’t be last either. The 26-MPG city and 33-MPG highway (28 combined MPG) was more than respectable. Mileage fluctuated depending on the use of Sport or Eco Modes.
Another aspect that I appreciated about the Nissan Rogue SL outside of its beautiful exterior, are the safety features. Other than the standard airbags, LATCH Ride Control features, the Rogue is filled with cutting-edge technology to predict and also prevent accidents like: Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) with Traction Control System (TCS), Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Warning and Moving Object Detection. These options do exactly what they say, exactly how it should be done. Veer off to the side of your lane…’beep, beep’ and you have been warned.
Where the Rogue SL really shines is in the interior. Laid out like a more expensive crossover, the Rogue SL’s Premium Package adds more technology, seating and storage configurations and higher-end features. My slightly under 5-foot frame is perfectly suited for the driving position, but my friends who hovered over the 6-foot range weren’t as comfortable in the back seats…but, its all about me, right? The EZ Flex® Seating System offers 40/20/40 Folding and Reclining, 60/40 Sliding 2nd Row and Divide and Hide ® Cargo System made runs to Costco and picking up those gems at Garage and Estate Sales a breeze. On those jaunts, the leather appointed seats and Quick Comfort™ Heated Front Seats, Leather Wrapped Steering Wheel and Shift Knob, Advanced Drive-Assist® Display and USB connection ports for iPod and other devices made for a chill driving experience. The technology is on full display with the 7” Color Touch-Screen Display, NissanConnect™ w/ Navigation and Mobile Apps, SiriusXM Satellite Radio (w/NavTraffic, Travel Link). Bluetooth® Hands-free Phone System and Hands-free text messaging assistant are also standard features in the Rogue SL. If all that wasn’t enough, pairing all that technology with a Bose® audio system with 9-Speakers, I was in musical heaven.
