2013 Acura ILX…Attainable Luxury!

2013_ilxWhen I first laid my eyes on the 2013 at the Detroit Auto Show visions of getting behind the wheel frequented my thoughts. Sharing the DNA of the Honda Civic, the Acura ILX provides an attainable foray into the luxury sedan segment without tapping out the bank account.

From the onset the design of the ILX nods to refinement and style with a tip of the hat to innovation.  This fresh face of Acura has lovely lines and a sporty look from to smirk of the grill, up to the sunroof and down to the cute rear end.

2013_ilx_engineThe ILX delivers a respectable 150 horsepower via the 2.0 Liter 16-Valve i-VTEC 4-Cylinder Engine.  The ride was solid with just the right amount of snap to contend with other luxury sedans in this segment. Adapting on the fly in different driving conditions, the 5-Speed Automatic Transmission with Sequential SportShift offered smooth gear changes. Navigating corners or barreling down straightaways the MacPhearson Strut Front Suspension, Rear Multi-Link Suspension coupled with Rack-and-Pinion Steering offered up a satisfying driving experience.

Standard safety features like Driver’s and Front Passenger’s Dual-Stage Airbags, Side Curtain Airbags, 3-Point Seat Belts, Side Impact Door Beams, Anti-Lock Brakes and Vehicle Stability Assist – just to name a few – bring about deeper sense of security.

The inclusion of the Premium and Tech Packages as standard features is another move in the right direction for providing attainable luxury.

2013_sideview-1The Premium Package includes Leather-Trimmed Sport Seats, Heated Front Seats, Zenon HID Lights, XM Satellite Radio, 8-Way Power Driver’s Seat and 17” x 7” Alloy Wheels.

The Tech Package or as I call it the “Make My Life Easier Package” offers the coolest in innovative technology. The Acura Navigation System with Voice Recognition and Multi-View Rear Camera, AcuraLink Communication System with Real-Time Traffic and Weather allowed me to remain focused on the road. The crisp and cool interior lights of the instrument panel are easy on the eyes in daylight or evening driving.  It was like having my own lil’ co-pilot in a sexy cockpit.

2013_ilx_intThe ILX also stroked the soft place in my heart with its incredible 10-Speaker Sound System. The Acura/ELS Surround –Sound System with Dolby Pro Logic II had me nodding to the syncopated rhythms emanating from my iPod that seamlessly linked via the USB Audio Interface.

The 2013 Acura ILX has its own unique persona that can appeal to a wide range of consumers. From sexy fashonista who wants luxury in a tight lil’ package will appreciate that she can still rock the latest trends and look fabulous in her ride to the young man stepping into the workforce in his first tailored suit with the French cuffs will breathe a sigh of relief that he can look the part in a car as progressive as he is…the ILX is just the right fit.
